Discover Unique, World-class Films at One (or All!) of These Acclaimed Festivals

Lights, camera, action! While Hollywood is known as the epicenter of the film industry, the East Coast has plenty to offer cinephiles as well. If you’re hoping to get your movie fix in the Hamptons this year, here are three film festivals you won’t want to miss. Taking place in the Hamptons and surrounding areas, these festivals are sure to delight film lovers of all ages.

New York City Film Festival

Since its inception in 2009, the New York City Film Festival has sought to open doors in the film industry for established and emerging filmmakers alike. Filmmakers, writers, directors, and cinephiles will gather from March 23rd to 27th in the Big Apple to watch films, documentaries, and shorts programs. Submissions are currently open, so budding filmmakers can submit their passion projects for consideration.

Long Island International Film Expo

Taking place from July 10th to 16th at the historic Bellmore Movies, the Long Island International Film Expo will include over 100 features and shorts from around the globe. The 22nd annual festival will include an invite-only opening night party, a filmmaker panel/breakfast, and panels about everything from scriptwriting to distribution. Awards are given for everything from Best Director to Best Feature Film to Best Art Direction.

Hamptons International Film Festival

Founded in 1992, HamptonsFilms celebrates the arts by introducing individuals to a wide range of international films and filmmakers. The non-profit organization offers year-round screenings of narrative and documentary films, a summer documentary program, a screenwriters lab, and educational programs meant to connect filmmakers in the East End of Long Island and beyond. However, the most anticipated event of the year is the Hamptons International Film Festival, which takes place over a five-day period. Held in theaters across East Hampton, the 28th annual film festival will take place from October 8th to 12th. This year’s festivities will include an extensive film program, panels, and parties sure to draw in cinema lovers from all over the Hamptons.
