6 Best Wineries in the Hamptons

The Top Hamptons Wineries That Everyone is Talking About

Here in the Hamptons, some of the best things in life revolve around gatherings with loved ones and a good bottle of wine. With spring and summer right around the corner, you can enjoy good company on a beautiful day outside rather than stay cooped up indoors. Get your friends and family together for a day of love and laughter at one of the Hamptons’ finest wineries. There will be cheese plates, tastings, and, of course, the best bubbly around. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites just for you. Cheers!

Wolffer Estate Vineyard

A day at the Wolffer Estate feels like a day in the European countryside. Here, acres upon acres of luscious green stretches before the eye, and the dazzling architecture is truly a sight to behold. Rather than spend the day at one of the Hamptons’ exclusive beaches, enjoy the Atlantic breeze here, where you can lay out your blanket on the expansive lawn and enjoy a picnic of wine, meats, and cheeses. Inside, you’ll be met with high ceilings, large windows, and a gorgeous terrace. Hamptonites are wowed by their delicious and iconic rosé (“Summer in a Bottle"), which is crisp, refreshing, and the perfect cool down in warmer weather. They also have award-winning reds, whites, sparkling beverages, and ciders to enjoy. You can also join the Wölffer family as a member of their Wine Club, which gives you the opportunity to revel in limited edition wines, take part in memorable events (like River Cruises and Wine and Dines), and use member-only discounts on purchases. You can even have vintage wines selected by winemaker Roman Roth shipped directly to you. It’s the perfect winery for families with members of all ages because of its beautiful sprawling lawn, where there’s lots of room to run, play, and lay. If you like lots of energy and the jubilant sound of laughter and conversation, Wolffer Estate is right for you.

Channing Daughters

Located in Bridgehampton, this charming, tucked-away winery is a hidden treasure. If you’re a fan of establishments that are under-the-radar yet classy and cozy, Channing Daughters is definitely the winery for you. Built on a gorgeous plot of land that is home to twenty-eight acres of vines, Channing Daughters offer a small and exclusive selection of six different locally-sourced vinos each day (try their orange wines and sparkling wines), which is just enough variety to choose from. Their wines are diverse and flavorful, and they pride themselves on their bold experimentation—some of their wines are filtered and fined, while some are wilder. Some wines are cultivated in stainless steel tanks, others in barrels. Most importantly, each grape that goes into their wines is hand-picked before being carefully juiced and fermented in small batches. It’s a wonderful collection of bottles, and each tasting is personalized. Channing Daughters is a quaint winery compared to the others, but if you have a big family gathering or large group event on the horizon, this winery can accommodate large parties. In September, they’ll show the entire winemaking process on full display.

Duck Walk South

Do you like to get active but are looking to change things up? Duck Walk South is the fun, family-run (and possibly the most well-known) winery on this list, mixing booze and biking. Get ready to sweat with the Pour and Pedal tour, which will take you on a five-hour guided tour through 12 scenic miles of stunning Hamptons wine country (it also stops at Channing Daughters winery, which is mentioned above). What’s at the finish line, you ask? The tasting room, of course. The tour starts bright and early at 10 AM, so come bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. After all that work, you’ll have the perfect reward waiting for you: wine, breathtaking views, and an entire day of relaxation ahead. Not into breaking a sweat? You can pass on cycling and go straight to the tasting room, which offers a friendly and educational experience. The chateau-style building in the heart of Southampton is the flagship location, which has both indoor and outdoor seating on 30 acres of lush grapevines. You’ll get to enjoy everything from white and red to dry, sweet, and dessert wine (their Blueberry Port is made from blueberries instead of grapes, and pairs well with dark chocolate). There is also live music provided on Saturdays and Sundays while in season, and they are both pet- and kid-friendly!

Kontokosta Winery

It doesn’t matter if you’re a red or white lover, Kontokosta Winery is the towering-yet-gorgeous waterfront venue for those who like a lazy summer night, a quiet spring day, a romantic and intimate evening, and a smaller crowd. The winery is housed in a legendary A-frame building with a red barn front door and Beachwood that is reminiscent of the sea. The bold structure has soaring ceilings and windows, and a wide lawn to roam across with wine glass in hand. The sunsets here are unreal (best viewed from one of the winery’s balconies) since the winery is perched atop the bluffs in Greenport. Sip and savor their famous 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, which won a Double Gold Medal as well as a Best in Class distinction at the 2013 International East Meets West Wine Challenge. All of their wines are bottled and labeled in the cellar under the tasting room!

Clovis Point

If you’re a wine lover who’s all about Instagram-worthy presentations and locations, visit Clovis Point’s 10 acres of dreamy wine land. This “vintage” and rustic boutique winery has been transformed from what was previously a 1920s potato barn. Why have one wine when you can have a few? Their heavenly tastings include a variety of wine flights that allow you to have your wine and drink it too! They have a number of delicious and innovative specialty wines, including an East End Rosé (we also recommend their merlot). They also host incredible events with food trucks, art installations, and live music performances. If you like a low-key evening with a spot of upbeat vibes, Clovis Point is your pick.

Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard

Calling all animal and wine lovers! Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard is worth a visit. A cool and creative vineyard that doubles as a haven for rescued horses, they offer tours of the horse sanctuary in addition to wine sampling. Be sure to take a sip of some of their award-winning vintages, like the Chardonnay, red blends, rosé, and a sweet dessert wine. Afterward, get a breath of fresh air by walking to the back and saying hello to the horses. On the weekends, the winery features live band performances. It’s perfect for guests of all ages.
