7 Unique Cocktails in the Hamptons (And Where to Get Them)

Slip Away and Try These Fresh Mixed Drinks From the Hottest Spots in the Hamptons

Flying Dagger

Start your night off in Montauk at The Surf Lodge. They offer an extensive wine list and a unique cocktail menu that caters to a wide variety of hard alcohol. One drink that caught my eye was the “Flying Dagger,” a perfect mix of Gekkeikan sake, tequila, yuzu, agave, and shiso. They also offer a range of other elixirs, such as the Mezcal-infused “Play Hard” (Casamigos mezcal, lo-fi aperitifs, lime, agave, pineapple, and firewater bitters) and for the gin lovers, try “The Gala” (Sipsmith gin infused with butterfly pea flowers, lemon, lavender, and prosecco). The Surf Lodge also doubles as a hotel and concert venue, meaning you can stay over after a night of drinking and dancing.

Prickly Pear Margarita

Head on over to Rumba, an island-inspired rum bar for a “Dark and Stormy.” Or, if you’re feeling fruity, try their “Prickly Pear Margarita”—you can’t go wrong with prickly pear-infused top-shelf tequila, Cointreau, and a mix of freshly-squeezed juices. Rumba also houses an impressive array of reserve rum and have a Carribean-inspired menu of delicious food to choose from.

The Good Friend

These cocktails are so good, they can almost speak for themselves. Try “The Good Friend” with gin, fresh grapefruit juice, Campari, and St. Germain, or, if you want something citrusy, order the “Meyer Lemon Cosmo Crop” with Meyer lemon vodka, cranberry, and lime. Make sure to also try their version of a Moscow Mule, which uses Sagaponack Farm vodka, fresh lime, and Fever-Tree ginger beer.

Call an Uber

Have a drink by the pool at the Montauk Beach House. Popular drinks include: “The Love Machine” (Don Julio tequila, cilantro-jalapeño juice, lime juice, and Chinola passion fruit liqueur) and “Call An Uber” (Ketel One vodka, St. Germain, lemon Juice, blackberry shrub, Falernum liqueur, and fresh mint). Good thing you already called an Uber!

The Salty Dog

Ruschmeyer's laid-back vibe makes it the perfect place to relax for New Yorkers looking for a weekend getaway from their busy lives. They offer celebrity comedy acts, bingo, outdoor movies, campfire s'mores, and, most importantly, cocktails. If you’re looking for something fresh to take the edge off, try “The Salty Dog” (vodka, grapefruit, and Maldon sea salt).

Social Cooler

If you’re feeling luxurious, rent a cabana at the Southhampton Social Club for early evening cocktails and appetizers. Try their signature “Social Cooler” (Don Julio tequila, watermelon purée, and fresh lime on the rocks).

Boozy Shakes

If you’re a local you probably know about Union Cantina’s famous tacos and cocktails. However, aside from your standard margarita, they offer milkshakes infused with alcohol. Choose from three signature shakes: “Coco Avion” (a vanilla milkshake with Avion espresso tequila, cocoa, chili, cinnamon, and freshly-whipped Cream), “Peanut Butter & Jelly Time” (a peanut butter milkshake with Frangelico and Chambord, topped with whipped cream), or the “Cafe Caramelo” (a caramel milkshake with Godiva caramel liqueur, Avion espresso tequila, and whipped cream).
