How to Spend Labor Day 2019 in the Hamptons

The Hamptons is One of the World’s Most Popular Labor Day Destinations. Explore What Makes It So Special

The Hamptons is one of the most sought-after places to spend Labor Day weekend, and it’s not hard to see why. From its beautiful beaches that provide a stunning backdrop for end-of-summer festivities to restaurants that serve up delicious seafood and cocktails, it’s the perfect place to ring out the season. Check out these events so you can celebrate the long weekend in style.

1. Music Events

The party kicks off on Labor Day weekend at hot venues like Stephen Talkhouse and Hedge Club Southampton. Dance the night away with acts such as Grammy-nominated reggae rocker Matisyahu and DJ Oscar G.

For a more relaxed, tropical vibe, boogie on down to Tiki Joe’s at Meschutt Beach. Tiki Joe’s will be hosting a party for their Club Summer Concert Series, and the dance floor will be open for you to show off your moves and give summer a good sendoff.

The Surf Lodge
will also offer live music throughout the night. In addition to entertainment, the restaurant will provide mouthwatering dishes. With such an exquisite menu, there is something for everybody. Enjoy the live music and incredible cocktails all night long out by the fire.

2. Fitness Opportunities

If you want to get your blood pumping this Labor Day, you’re in luck. Springs Fire Department will be holding their annual Great Bonac Footraces, which gives attendees the option of participating in a 10k run or a 5k walk/run. The run will take you through beautiful scenery like Maidstone Park loop, Gardiner's Bay, Three Mile Harbor, Sammy's Beach, and more. Join in and support a good cause—all proceeds go back to the fire department.

3. The Art Scene

Labor Day weekend is a great time to explore the cultural side of the Hamptons. Many local art galleries have events going on, and most are free to attend. The Parrish Art Museum will be exhibiting the works of abstract artist Helen Frankenthaler, which highlight the summers she spent in the Hamptons. Though the exhibition will continue to run throughout September, the gallery will only display particular artworks over Labor Day weekend.

The Hamptons also offers art experiences for the kids. Take a guided tour of the Jackson Pollock studio to see where he painted some of his most famous pieces. At the end of the tour, attendees are given the chance to paint their own masterpiece in Pollock’s studio. This is a great event for the whole family, and the ability to take home your own souvenir allows you to remember the day forever.

4. All of the Above

There is so much to do and explore over Labor Day weekend, and if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed about where to go, there is one spot that features all of the above activities: the 72nd Annual Shinnecock Indian Powwow. The Shinnecock Indian Powwow is one of the largest Native American gatherings, offering live music, dance, art, and culture. The event runs all weekend long, hosting over 100 vendors featuring food trucks, craft stations, and native storytelling. Every night over the long weekend, the Shinnecock Indian Powwow puts on a Sunset Fire Lighting, which becomes a spectacle of the event and brings everyone together to celebrate the land, the people, and the overall collaborative community.

Veuve Clicquot
is also throwing an epic bash at the pool and lawn of Topping Rose House. Gather around the fire pit of one of Bridgehampton’s premier luxury hotels to enjoy a clambake, cocktails, and good company.
